Here is a gift before we get to the real online dating news story. It’s a clean but really bad joke. When you’re enjoying lunch or dinner with friends, ask them, “Have you ever had a Honeymoon Salad?” After people give a totally clueless look, the answer I always get is, “No. What’s that?” I then smile and shout out, “Lettuce alone!” Get it? Let-Us-Alone! Do not disturb. We’re passionate lovers on our honeymoon…
After you’re established on a dating site, then just wait for the emails to come rolling in. If you write a really good profile about yourself, you will get many emails. However, responding can turn into a full time job so weed out the ones who really need a response, even if you are not interested. So many suitors, so little time!
Most people’s profile pics are almost scary and depressing leaving you thinking, “Ewww. Are they for real? Do they really think that’s attractive? Man, time to move on to the next profile.” Well, if you look at online dating sites, you’ll see some pretty bad profile photos even if in person, the real guy or girl is really cute and all those great things. Even the top omegle sites and best online dating sites are loaded with some pretty hairy, scary, and totally not hot pics. Someone may have a great photo but if it’s too dim or the background is too cluttered, that’s not really a best picture to put up on the wall of an online dating site because you get about two seconds before they click on to another person’s profile.
Before asking her out for a date, try to have some conversation together. This will be an opportunity for you to discover if your personalities and ideas are attuned with each other, before you do decide to ask her out for a date.
Take time to write a careful online profile. Make sure you use proper grammar, punctuation and spelling. Be honest in your profile. If you aren’t honest in your profile, what’s the point? Eventually the truth will come out so don’t mislead people into thinking you are something that you are not. You wouldn’t want someone to mislead you so don’t do it to others.
I spent years going to clubs, taking up hobbies, signing up for classes (Auto Repair 101?) and still nothing worth writing home about. Then a co-worker of mine suggested On-line Dating. This was about ten years ago when on-line dating was pretty new. My reaction of course was “What? I’m not desperate!” That’s when she filled me in on the fantastic new guy she just met.
If you are successful in your career, put that out there. If you are not so successful career wise, find a way to spin it so that it does not seem like you have a hapless job. Whatever you do, if you are going to get dates and get some attention from an online dating site, you have to be original and you cannot sell yourself short.
